The Rohlmanns Hof

Built in 1875, the Rohlmanns Farmhouse is a typical Westphalian timber framework construction with a brick facade and a sandstone foundation, integrated into the Westphalian park and culture landscape in the Münster-Hamm-Dortmund city triangle.

After an impressively short reconstruction time of about only 6 months, we have moved to our new office in October 2004. On 18th March 2005 we have inaugurated the Rohlmanns Hof with a lot of our customers and business partners. Our aim is to develop the Rohlmanns Hof to a meeting place for many interesting people from architecture, design and the hotel sector.

In close collaboration with the artist and stage director Martin Maria Blau, permanently installed room scenarios were developed and integrated into the building, for example water sculptures. Water was integrated in the most diverse variations, visible, sensible and audible, and runs through the building like a concept line. The conversion of the Rohlmanns Farmhouse into an innovation and communication platform was based on an idea of Paul Brumann, owner and managing director of TOMBUSCH & BRUMANN GmbH. The design and complete planning, including supervision of the interior remodelling, was done by TOMBUSCH & BRUMANN. Chief architect Christina Luther's primary concern was to retain the historical character of the Rohlmanns Farmhouse and to reinforce it with the use of modern elements that harmonise with the existing historical elements. Authentic local materials were used that underscore the company's tradition. Old components that were salvageable, such as the wooden stairs and oak and stone floors were restored and now constitute attractive details.

"Tradition meets modernity" was one of the primary themes of the design concept. Only natural materials that create a great deal of atmosphere and stimulate the human senses were used.
